Galletas Marineras are a modern adaptation of “Pilot Bread” or Hard tack”, an ancient solution used by sailors for conserving bread during long ocean voyages in a natural way.
They were introduced in America on the different voyages made by ship and became part of the normal diet of many of those countries.
Galletas Marineras is a long-lasting food with a neutral taste and are extremely resistant to moisture they are especially useful for preparing canapés with sweet or savoury ingredients.
They are perfect as a substitute for fresh bread, toasted bread, sliced bread, sweet biscuits and pastries and for this reason they can be eaten alone or together with other dishes and as a basis for preparing aperitifs.
